Once #cycladesunified  founded in July 2024, we were selected to participate in the European RESILIAGE program (Horizon Europe 2023–2026) as a CORE Associated Lab for two years, representing the cultural heritage of the island of https://resiliage.eu/project-overview/

The closing event of the European RESILIAGE project (Horizon Europe 2023–2026) “Cultural and Natural Heritage for Preparedness and Resilience,” to which we were invited, took place on June 24, 2026, at the BOZAR Center for Fine Arts in Brussels.

The event, organized by UNESCO, brought together researchers, organizations, professionals, and communities to exchange knowledge and experiences regarding the role of cultural and natural heritage in strengthening community resilience.

Cyclades Unified, in collaboration with the Municipality of Kimolos and the mayor, Mr. Konstantinos Ventouris, prepared the bilingual Preparedness Tool, of 18 pages,  for the Medieval Castle  Chorio -Kimolos. During the project, the presentations curated by Ms. Agatha Rodi, founder of the organization, focused on the Medieval Castle of Kimolos and its surrounding area, the church and cell of the Miraculous Protectress of Kimolos, Saint Methodia, served by the 94-year-old deaconess Ms. Katerina Marinaki, as well as the Church of the Nativity of Christ (1592).

These churches are an important part of the historical significance of the Medieval Castle (14th–16th centuries) and the cultural heritage of Kimolos.

Funded by the “Horizon Europe” program, RESILIAGE (Promoting a Holistic Understanding of the Factors Affecting Community Resilience and Cultural Heritage through Community-Based Methodologies), aimed to provide new insights and effective solutions to support the resilience of European communities affected by disasters and emergencies.

Since the beginning of the new millennium, more than 1,200 disasters have struck Europe, affecting approximately 15 million people. The impact of these extreme events has been exacerbated by social inequalities and current economic and political crises which, over the years, have gradually diminished the ability to prevent and appropriately respond to these phenomena.
