About

CYCLADES Unified NGO is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and professional environment for everyone. Upholding high standards of conduct across our projects, activities, events, collaborations, and digital platforms is essential to fulfilling our mission.

This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all members of the organisation, partners, collaborators, volunteers, participants, contributors, sponsors, and visitors of the CYCLADES Unified NGO website, in both physical and online spaces. It also describes the procedures for reporting and addressing unacceptable behaviour.

Compliance with this Code of Conduct is mandatory.

Our Commitment

CYCLADES Unified NGO is dedicated to providing a harassment-free environment for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, physical appearance, body size, nationality, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic background, level of education, or professional experience.

Guiding Principles

Be welcoming

We respect and value diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We actively support new participants in orienting themselves within our activities, projects, and communities.

Be respectful

Disagreement does not justify disrespect. We do not tolerate personal attacks, insults, or demeaning language. Respect is non-negotiable.

Communicate clearly

Our work often takes place in international and multilingual contexts. We strive for clear, concise, and accessible communication, mindful of cultural and linguistic differences.

Be collaborative

Collaboration improves quality and impact. We work transparently, coordinate with relevant stakeholders, and engage interested parties as early as possible.

Ask for help when unsure

No one is expected to be infallible. Asking questions early prevents problems later. Offering help and responding constructively is part of our shared responsibility.

Share leadership

We encourage mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and the empowerment of new leaders to ensure sustainable and resilient communities.

Unacceptable Behaviour

CYCLADES Unified NGO does not tolerate harassment or abusive behaviour of any kind, including but not limited to:

  • Offensive or derogatory comments that reinforce social inequalities or systems of domination.
  • Threats, intimidation, violent language, or encouragement of self-harm.
  • Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory jokes or language.
  • Displaying or distributing sexually explicit or violent material without clear, approved, and contextual justification.
  • Publishing or threatening to publish another person’s private or identifying information without consent (doxing).
  • Unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention.
  • Persistent or unwanted communication after a clear request to stop.
  • Deliberate misgendering or use of rejected or “dead” names.
  • Stalking, following, harassment, trolling, or deliberate disruption of activities or discussions.
  • Publishing private communications without consent.
  • Advocating for or encouraging any of the above behaviours.

Enforcement

CYCLADES Unified NGO reserves the right to take appropriate action, including but not limited to:

  • Requesting the immediate cessation of a behaviour.
  • Temporary or permanent removal from an event, activity, or online space.
  • Revocation of access to platforms, projects, or communities.
  • Public or private communication to enforce expectations.
  • Temporary or permanent bans from future activities.
  • Notification of affiliated organisations.
  • Disciplinary action, including termination of collaboration or employment.
  • No action, if no violation is determined.

The safety of marginalised individuals takes precedence over the comfort of more privileged individuals.

Reporting Violations

Reporting concerns is essential. Without awareness, effective action is not possible.

Reports may be submitted:

All reports are handled with care, discretion, and without retaliation. Reports made in bad faith or intended to silence legitimate criticism may be dismissed.

Confidentiality & Data Protection

All information collected through reports is used solely for the enforcement of this Code of Conduct. Victims will never be named without explicit consent. CYCLADES Unified NGO reserves the right to warn third parties or publicly name individuals responsible for misconduct if doing so is deemed necessary to protect the safety of the community.
